Lucknow, January 22: In a
gathering at CMS Gomtinagar, Dr. Jagdish Gandhi,
Founder-Manager, City Montessori School (CMS),
Lucknow, India, presented the ‘CMS Youth Icon’
to Prof. C. Raj Kumar, a Harvard Graduate and
Vice Chancellor of O.P. Jindal Global University
and Dean, Jindal Global Law School (JGLS) for
his dedication and excellence to provide a world
class opportunity to specialize in different
areas of public and private law. On the
invitation of Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, Prof. C. Raj
Kumar, also conducted an interactive session
with CMS students on the topic – ‘Global
Education’ at CMS Gomti Nagar Campus, Vipul
Khand, Gomti Nagar.
Professor C. Raj Kumar has taught for many years
at the school of Law of City University of Hong
Kong and is a member of the National Legal
Knowledge Council and an Honorary Consultant to
the National Human Rights Commission in India.
He was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of
Oxford, UK, where he obtained his Bachelor of
Civil Law (BCL) Degree; a Landon Grammon Fellow
at the Harvard Law School, USA, Memorial Scholar
at the Harvard University. He also obtained a
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the
University of Delhi, India; and a Bachelor of
Commerce (BCom) degree from the University of
Madras, India, Professor Kumar's areas of
specialization include human rights and
development
Dr. Jagdish Gandhi, while introducing the
eminent speaker and welcoming the guests and
students introduced Professor Kumar. In his
speech Dr. Gandhi expressed that with the world
shrinking into a small global village the Global
education scenario has developed as effort to
teach young people about their globally
connected world. Global education purposefully
challenges ethnocentrism, national chauvinism
and cultural relativism through cross-cultural
experiential learning. With these thoughts and
ideas to keep its students in pace with the
dynamic world.
Prof. C. Raj Kumar, began his speech with a
brief description about his experiences and
stints at various national and International
posts. He then proceeded to express his ideas on
the topic of ‘Global Education’ with the
students of CMS. He discussed in length the
importance of Global Education with the students
of CMS. He, then opened the floor for an
interactive session with the students, who
poured their queries and questions to Prof.
Kumar.
Hari Om Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer,
City Montessori School, Lucknow informed the
press that Dr. Gandhi has always tried to expose
his students to the ever changing world of
today. He, emphasized, that Dr. Gandhi has
always believed that till his students are not
exposed to the global world and its scenario,
they will never be able to spread the ideas of
World Peace and Unity.
